“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
Whether you’re a morning person or a night person, there comes a time of day that you get tired. No matter whether the work you’re doing is physical, or mental, or emotional, you have limited reserves. When I run out of these reserves and become tired, I become irritable, make bad decisions and am not too good for anything. (Being a very early morning person, this normally happens at 8:30pm, to my night-person-wife’s frustration!). These are the signs to stop and sleep. Replenish. Don’t push on, but be refreshed.
Jesus says, if you’re tired, come to me.
He says: Don’t push on. Don’t just soldier on. Don’t run on empty. Don’t try and give out of lack.
You are too called and anointed to operate with deficiency. You can only do what God has called you to do from a place of overflow, strength and joy.
Deal with tiredness. Spend time with Jesus. Worship. Pray. Selah. Meditate. Focus on “productivity” not just “activity”. Refuse to strive. Refuse to operate the way the world demands of you. Do it God’s way. It’s the best way and will result in the best “you”.
'Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.' (Galatians 6:9 NIV)
