Remaining - Ps Phil Newman

7th June 2020

"I remain confident of this:

    I will see the goodness of the Lord

    in the land of the living.

Wait for the Lord;

    be strong and take heart

    and wait for the Lord."

Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)

The entire concept of ‘remaining’ implies that there are forces trying to shift and move. An anchor holds a boat in place against harsh winds. A parking brake keeps a car in place against gravity down a hill. A tree’s roots keep it in place during storms. There are forces trying to constantly move you away from God’s will and promise. They are trying to hold you back from moving forward and they are trying to steal the territory back that you have already taken. In the midst of this, God joins us and asks us, by His grace and anointing, to REMAIN. He is continually strengthening you, refreshing you, inspiring you, guiding you, anointing you, opening doors for you, sending angels for you - ALL to help you remain positioned for His promise. Don’t give up. Don’t surrender. Don’t be discouraged. Remain! In seasons such as the one Australia faces now, God asks us to remain. When forces (practical, spiritual and emotional) try and affect your destiny, relationships, and inner self, REMAIN. Don’t give up the territory you’ve taken by God’s grace! Don’t let go of the courage God has given you! Don’t give up believing, sowing, seeking and pressing in! I once heard: Today’s mighty oak is just yesterday’s nut that held its ground... Remain - and you WILL see God do incredible things!
