“After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!” Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.”
John 19:28-30 (NKJV)
Finally, after 10 weeks in iso, I have finished my first iso project...painting the eaves of our house! As I cleaned out the last paint brush I could triumphantly declare...it is finished! It was quite an effort, 6 kids, homeschooling and sickness all contributed to a relatively easy project taking a lot longer than normal.
Quite often I was tempted to cut corners, not do the prep work, or that one coat will do; but after finishing it well, never to have to look at it again for at least 10 years, it was such a delight to know it was done!
Jesus did it all for us. He made a way so that we could live eternally with Him. He saw it through to the end, not cutting corners, not making it harder for us, but simply making the way so that through the cross we could have forgiveness of sins and eternal life.
It is finished! No longer do we have to 'try' to make it. No longer do we have to 'fake it till we make it'. We simply believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that He is Lord and we are saved.
Today, I am grateful that He did this all for me. I am grateful that He made a way, so that all I have to do is choose Him. I am grateful that finished means finished, complete, done once and for all.
It is finished. Rest in it today.
